Last week i received the hydraulics unit for my forging press. It’s a 10 hp motor with a dual stage pump.
Up to 6 tons it can press at 10 cm per second. Above 6 tons it can press up to 20 tons at 3.5 cm per second.
Next up: build the frame!

That is some serious power!

Go big or go home 🙂
10 HP is probably overkill. 5 would have done probably. But this way I am certain that I will never run into power problems. Plus it is a standalone unit, so if I want to add something like a rolling mill later on, I can power it off of this unit as well.

What is this for?
Very very glad the guy with Howard’s blade surfaced. Can’t wait to see the final pics

Hey Dave, This is a hydraulics unit for the forging press I am building. This should work very well for squeezing billets of damascus flat. Should be much faster than my power hammer even, and much, much more silent 🙂
